sounds.

Housework was a pleasant pastime. When my floor was dirty, I rose early, and setting all my furniture out of doors on the grass, bed and bedstead making but one budget, dashed water on the floor and sprinkled white sand from the pond on it, and then with a broom scrubbed it clean and white; and by the time the villagers had broken their fast the morning sun had dried my house sufficiently to allow me to move in again, and my meditations were almost uninterrupted. It was pleasant to see my whole household effects out on the grass, making a little pile like a gypsy's pack, and my three-legged table, from which I did not remove the books and pen and ink, standing amid the pines and hickories. They seemed glad to get out themselves, as if unwilling to be brought in. I was sometimes tempted to stretch an awning over them and take my seat there. It was worth the while to see the sun shine on these things, and hear the free wind blow on them; so much more interesting most familiar objects look out of doors than in the house.

look forward.

May no man's reigns ever chain you

speed of time.

a rush of water, like the pace of life, is one big blur.

but every once in awhile, something comes into focus and leaves an imprint, like drying sap, slowly dripping from the cracks in the tree.

then, somehow, you allow yourself to drift back into that blur.

"Barton Hollow" | The Civil Wars | OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO | [HD]

old before your time

[Through the years I've known my share of broken hearted fools
And those who couldn't choose a path worth taking
There's nothin' in the world so sad as talking to a man
Who never knew his life was his for making

Ain't it about time you realize? It's not worth keepin' score
You win some, you lose some and you let it go
What's the use of stacking on every failure another stone
Till you find you've spent your whole damn life
Building walls, lonely and old before your time]

just sitting there.

It intrigues me to think about all the living/ dead things in the woods that just grow quietly while we, as humans, run around like crazy trying to get so much done before our life is over. Can't we just sit still like the moss on a tree and watch everyone race by?
