washing clean.

didn't even realize the time that passed as I sat in the drizzling rain at the top of West Royce. Somehow I went from hating to get dirty to crawling in the woods in the rain. Don't know what happened there.

east royce.

rainy new england.

rain, rain, you can stay.

hiking in the rain may be my new favorite thing. less people, no bugs, vibrant colors. however, slippery rocks tend to be a problem. great day today.

canvas close up

details of the canvas

a day in Kingfield.

i drove up to Kingfield Maine on Friday to participate in the art walk. I walked down to this lady's gallery space...in her barn. Originally from Germany, she can barely walk or talk and is hard of hearing. But she is everything an artist should be. Carefree attitude and doesn't give a shit. She was awesome. One day I'll own a old barn like this. One day...

so many routes to take.

so much ground to cover. so little time.

economy.

an excerpt from Walden. today's equivalent = corporate society. funny how can look at farmers today and think of it as a primitive way of life. i think they are lucky to get to see green grass every day. who made us serfs of concrete?

handwriting.

thoreau's handwriting in the mid 1800's. my handwriting in 2011. i hope this art doesn't fade away.

pulled back the bark.

pulled back the bark on a rotting tree today while I ran in the woods. i think it is fascinating.

baldface loop

hiked 9.8 miles on sunday. baldface loop. saw 3 moose. stood there while they stared at me. when i realized they weren't going to eat me, i quietly tip-toed up the trail. i think i over-reacted. (sorry no moose pictures....didn't want to ruin the moment)
